Odisha youngster Rutuparna Choudhary won the under-14 girls’ singles title in the AITA-BTA Talent Series Tennis Tournament, defeating local favourite and top seed Adrija Biswas (West Bengal) 6-4, 6-3 in final at BTA Complex, Yuva Bharati Kridangan, Kolkata, today

Earlier in the semifinals, second seed Rutuparna routed Sukanya Biswas (WB) 6-1, 6-1. This is the second under-14 Talent Series title for Bhubaneswar lass Rutuparna, who has garnered a total of six AITA titles in her career so far.

Rutuparna`s statemate Alisha Samal reached semifinals in both the under-14 and under-16 categories before losing to top seeds Adrija Biswas and Shruti Gupta (WB) respectively. Among other Odisha players, Bhubaneswar boy Amrutjay Mohanty reached under-16 boys` singles quarterfinals before bowing to second seed Anurag Agrawal (WB) 2-4, 4-5 (5-7).
