  KIIT University clinch title in B-Division Football League

KIIT University were crowned champions of the 11th Gatikrushna Memorial B-Division Football League when they rode on a gem of a goal by Sana Kumar Marandi to beat Brahemeswar Sporting 1-0 in the final at Unit-I Govt Boys High School ground here today.

Chaturananda Marandi (KIIT University), Rama Chandra Hansda (Chandrasekharpur Athletic Association) and Santosh Kumar Behera (Brahmeswar Sporting) bagged the prizes as the League`s best forward, best goalkeeper and best mid-fielder respectively.

State Sports Director Ananta Kishore Jena handed over the trophy at the closing function. Host Bhubaneswar Athletic Association president Suresh Routray and secretary Dr S R Parija were present on the occasion.

Altogether 16 teams participated in the B-Division League, which featured a total of 31 matches. Champions KIIT University and runners-up Brahmeswar Sporting were promoted to next year`s A-Division League.

August 23 (Match No 1): Mukteswar Club (Deepak Kumar Bholatia 47th) beat GGP Football Club 1-0.
August 24 (Match No 2): City Club (Sidhant Maharathy 29th, Abhisek Nayak 67th) beat Tech Mahindra 2-0.
August 25 (Match No 3): KIIT University (Sunil Murmu 10th, Chaturananda Marandi 38th, Hamrah Marandi 58th) beat Park Sporting 3-0.
August 26 (Match No 4): Brahmeswar Sporting (Lagnajit Mohanty 2nd, Alok Dehuri 8th, James Laguri 24th, Santosh Behera 62nd) beat Bir Birsa Club (Karun Murmu 35th) 4-1.
August 27 (Match No 5): Kalinga Sporting (Anurag Bhengra 21st, Biplab Dehury 26th) beat Tiger Youth Club (Dilip Kumar Singh 14th) 2-1.
August 28 (Match No 6): Ekamra Sporting Club beat (Dhyan Bhanjdeo 8th, 16th, 21st, 30th; Sidhant Das 24th, 66th; Saddamuddin 56th, 64th; Abhijeet Nanda 59th) Gandhi Institute 9-0.
August 30 (Match No 7): Royal Physical Association (Satya Prakash Mishra 33rd) beat Chandrasekharpur Athletic Association 1-0.
August 31 (Match No 8): MS Eleven (Chakradhar Marandi 29th, 41st; Masang Majhi 57th) drew with Regional Football Club (J Menon Singh 5th, 44th; Subhro Sil 61st) 3-3.
September 1 (Match No 9): Tiger Youth Club (Dilip Kumar Singh 26th) drew with GGP Football Club (Santosh Amayant 44th) 1-1.
September 2 (Match No 10): Park Sporting (Roshan Kumar Mohanty 16th, Manas Behera 30th, Akshya Kumar Nayak 50th) beat Gandhi Institute 3-0.
September 3 (Match No 11): Brahmeswar Sporting (James Laguri 45th) beat Regional Football Club 1-0.
September 4 (Match No 12): Chandrasekharpur Athletic Association (Baraju Marandi 11th, Bhagabat Murmu 40th) beat City Club (Sayed B Rashedin 36th) 2-1.
September 5 (Match No 13): GGP Football Club (Jyoti Mishra 18th, Madan Sikhu 33rd) drew with Kalinga Sporting (Bikash Majhi 53rd, Gouranga Nayak 60th) 2-2.

QUARTERFINALS:
October 9 (Match No 25): Chandrasekharpur Athletic Association (Banju Marandi 59th, Atul Patnaik 65th) beat Kalinga Sporting 2-0.
October 10 (Match No 26): Brahmeswar Sporting (L Mohanty 14th, L Mohanty, Raj Kishore Majhi, Avijeet Patnaik, Rakesh Behera) beat Ekamra Sporting (Dhyanendra Bhanjadeo 55 th, Avijit Nanda, Pratik Bhanja) 5-3 in tie-breaker.
October 11 (Match No 27): KIIT University (Chaturananda Marandi 40th, 55th; Dilip Kumar Murmu 50th) beat Tiger Youth Club 3-0.
October 12 (Match No 28): MS Eleven (Salman Soren 69th, Sunaram Hansdah 70th) beat Royal Physical Association 2-0.

SEMIFINALS:
