Swapnil Priyadarshi of St Joseph`s High School emerged the champion in the 5th Schools Open Chess Tournament, scoring full eight points here at DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar yesterday.

Altogether 79 players from 15 schools participated in the two-day and eight-round tournament. Host DAV Public School Principal Bipin Kumar Sahoo gave away the prizes.
