Host Odisha gained three points by taking a first-innings lead of 62 runs against Tripura in their three-day Vijay Merchant Trophy (U-16) East Zone league match, which ended in a draw at Bidanasi ground here today. Chasing 187 for victory, Odisha were 25 for no loss in the second innings when the match ended in draw.

Odisha took the first-innings lead by making 248, in reply to 186 by Tripura. Aakash Nayak and Rajat Das hit a half-century for the home team. In the second innings, Tripura rode on a century by B Das and half-century by R Chakma to declare at 248 for five. Pacer Rajesh Mohanty was another impressive performer for Odisha, taking six wickets in the first innings and nine in the match. Odisha will next meet Assam in Assam from December 7 to 9.
