  Town Club lift Arabinda Memorial Paramount Cup

Town Club established itself as a rising cricket academy in Bhubaneswar by emerging champions in the Arabinda Memorial Paramount Cup Under-14 Cricket Tournament here at Paramount Sportings Ground today.

Riding on impressive performances of Binayak Mohanty and Sushil Barik, Old Town-based Town Club beat their Bhubaneswar city opponents Pragati Sporting in the final by 33 runs to take home a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Runners-up Pragati Sporting received Rs 10,000.

Earlier in the semifinals, Pragati Sporting beat host Paramount Sportings by six wickets, while Town Club prevailed over Jagruti Cricket Academy by 25 runs. Altogether nine teams participated in this T20 tournament, which was inaugurated by Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena on May 14.

Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda handed over the glittering trophy in the valedictory function. Host Paramount Sportings president Pratap Kumar Jena was present on the occasion.

 

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES: Player of the tournament: Aswini Mohapatra (Town Club); Best batsman: Subhranshu Harichandan (Jagruti CA); Best bowler: Rohan Dev Mohanty (Pragati); Best fielder: Subham Nayak (Pragati); Best wicket-keeper: Pratyush Kumar Purohit (Pragati); Wonder boy: Anuj Mahasupakar (Town Club); Promising allrounder: Ayush Barik (Pragati); Promising batsman: Sudarshan Swain (Paramount).
