Chhattisgarh boys and Delhi girls emerged champions in the 29th Sub-junior National Softball Championship, which was hosted by Odisha Softball Association (OSA) at Satyabrata Stadium, Cuttack from January 7 to 11, 2017. As many as 18 states participated in the championship.

Chhattisgarh beat Maharashtra 3-0 in boys’ final, while Delhi got the better of Kerala 10-9 in girls’ summit clash. Madhya Pradesh boys and Punjab girls finished third. Host Odisha put up modest performance in the five-day championship.

Odisha beat Manipur 9-0 but lost to Haryana 1-2. Odisha girls beat Manipur twice 13-2 and 12-5, went down to Andhra Pradesh 2-9. Income Tax Principal Commissioner handed over the trophy and prizes at the closing function. Additional Police DG Satyajit Mohanty and OSA secretary Debendra Kumar Sahoo were present on the occasion.
