  Paramount lift Puspalata Garabadu Memorial Trophy

Paramount Sporting emerge champions in the 2nd Puspalata Garabadu Memorial Masters T20 Cricket Tournament, beating city opponents Mukteswar Cricket Club by six runs in the final here at Town Club ground today. With this win Paramount avenged their defeat in last year’s final against Mukteswar.

The champion ream received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and runners-up side Rs 10,000. Gyana Ranjan Sahoo and Krishna Sethi (both Paramount) bagged the individual prizes as man of the final match and best bowler of the tournament respectively. The prizes for man of the tournament and best batsman were claimed by Prasant Biswal (Mukteswar) and Narayan Moharana (Young Veterans) respectively.

Odisha Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda handed over the trophy and prizes at the valedictory function. Host Town Club president Suresh Kumar Routray, eminent cricket coach Kishore Mania, tournament sponsor Sashi Sekhar Garabadu and Town Club sports secretary Manoj Kumar Mohapatra were present on the occasion.

Former India Test opener Shiv Sundar Das inaugurated the tournament, which commenced earlier on December 10. Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, Town Club president Suresh Chandra Routray, BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty, Town Club sports secretary Manoj Kumar Mohapatra and title sponsor Sashi Sekhar Garabadu were present on the occasion.

Dec 10 (Match No 1): Paramount Sporting 158/5 in 20 overs (Amaresh Mohanty 64, Gyana Ranjan Sahu 47; Radheshyam Nayak 2 wkts) beat Saheed Sporting Club 122/10 (Abinash Rath 34, Nandan Mohanty 27; Sarat Sahu 5/13, Rashmi Ranjan Das 2 wkts) by 36 runs. MoM: Sarat Sahu.
Dec 11 (Match No 2): Young Veterans 169/4 in 20 overs (Narayan Moharana 91, Dipti Patnaik 40) beat Biswabharati Club 131/9 in 20 overs (Subashish Das 47, Hrushikesh Bangari 38; Sandip Rath 4/27, Ashish Patnaik 2 wkts) by 38 runs. MoM: Narayan Moharana.
Dec 12 (Match No 3): Mukteswar Cricket Club 142/7 in 20 overs (Prasant Mohapatra 64, Prashant Biswal 58; Mohammad Aziz, Gyana Ranjan Sahoo each 2 wkts) lost to Paramount Sporting 143/7 in 19.1 overs (Amaresh Mohanty 89; Surya Narayan Rath 2 wkts) by 3 wkts. MoM: Amaresh Mohanty.
