Nivedita Kisan bagged a double by winning both the women’s singles and doubles titles in the 9th Secretariat Open Badminton Tournament, which was organised by Odisha State Secretariat Badminton Association (OSSBA) here at the Secretariat premises from December 21 to 23, 2016.

Motilal Kalo and Ramakant Das emerged champions in senior and veteran men’s singles respectively. Around 100 employees participated in the tournament, which was inaugurated by SBI (Secretariat Branch) chief manager Prasanna Kumar Behera and OSSBA outgoing working president Lalit Mohan Pattnaik.

UCO Bank (Secretariat Branch) assistant manager Debasis Poddar and organizing committee chairman L M Pattnaik gave away the prizes in the closing ceremony. OSSBA new working president Uma Sankar Mohapatra, general secretary Chitta Ranjan Rout, joint secretary Ashok Kumar Dixit, sports secretary Sasank Sekhar Mohapatra and treasurer Baresh Nath Pradhan were present on the occasion.

Senior men’s singles: Motilal Kalo beat Mahendra Kumar Barik. Senior men’s doubles: Debadullav Das-Mahendra Kumar Barik beat Rantu Sahoo-Pradeep John Kujur. Veteran men’s singles: Ramakant Das beat Ashok Kumar Dixit. Veteran men’s doubles: Uma Shankar Mhapatra-Ashok Dixit beat Lalit Mohan Pattnaik-Ramakant Das. Women’s singles: Nivedita Kisan beat Minakshi Thakur. Women’s doubles: Nivedita Kisan-Minakshi Thakur beat Anuradha Nayak-Bhanupriya Sabar.
