  Hockey Odisha bow out in Sub-jr Men Natl semifinals

Hockey Odisha crashed out in the semifinals of the 7th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Men Hockey Championship (Division-A), suffering a humiliating 1-10 defeat against Hockey Chandigarh at Bengaluru (Karnataka) today. Hockey Odisha reached the last-four stage, edging out Uttar Pradesh Hockey 5-3 in penalty shoot out. The quarterfinal match between the two teams went to the shoot out stage after play in regulation time ended in 2-2 draw.

Led by Ajit Ekka, Hockey Odisha booked berth in the last-eight stage, winning two matches and drawing one in their group league. They beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 4-0 and Hockey Gangpur-Odisha 1-0, but were held to a 1-1 draw by Sports Authority of India.

On the other hand, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha crashed out in the league stage, losing two matches and winning one. Led by Akash Ekka, Hockey Gangpur Odisha started campaign, losing 1-3 to Sports Authority of India and concluded their engagements with an 8-1 win over Hockey Andhra Pradesh.

May 12: Hockey Odisha (Ajay Ekka 25-FG) beat Hockey Gangpur-Odisha 1-0.
May 14: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 8-1.
May 14: Hockey Odisha (Deepak Gowala 42-FG) drew with Sports Authority of India (40-PC) 1-1.
May 18: Hockey Odisha (Ajay Ekka 14-FG, Sushil Dhanwar 32-FG) beat Uttar Pradesh Hockey 5-3 in penalty shoot out (Full time 2-2 draw).
May 20 (SF): Hockey Odisha lost to Hockey Chandigarh 1-10.
