  Radha Raman capture FAO 1st Dvn League title

Radha Raman Club were crowned Football Association of Odisha (FAO) 1st Division League champions, defeating last three years’ title winners Sunrise Club by 2-1 goals in the floodlit final at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the runners-up side Rs 50,000.

The tournament, featuring 25 teams, was organised by Football Association of Odisha (FAO) from July 2. Odisha Sports & Youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera handed over the trophy in the presence of Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera and FAO secretary Sanjay Behera. Players who represented Odisha in the 1967 along with some veteran footballers were felicitated on the occasion.

 

Earlier, Retd Justice AS Naidu graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest. Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Odisha Archery Association secretary Sradhananda Das, FAO secretary Sanjay Behera and former football international R P Singh were present on the occasion.
