  Tata Football Academy lift Tata-Utkalika Cup

Jamshepur-based Tata Football Academy (TFA) emerged champions in the 19th Tata-Utkalika Cup Invitational Football Tournament, defeating host Unit-VI Athletic Association in the final by 2-0 goals here at Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground today. Gourav scored the two goals in the 10th and 69th minutes.

The champion team received trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while runner-up were given Rs 15,000. Rafiq and Vishal of team bagged the individual prizes as best goalkeeper and best mid-fielder respectively. Tofan Nayak of the Unit-VI took home the prizes of best forward and man of the tournament. His teammate Ranjit Kumar Jena pocketed prize as best defender.

 

Bhubaneswar Central MLA Bijya Kumar Mohanty, Tata Steel Chief Residential Executive Manikant Nayak, Angul Sukinda Railway Project MD Dillip Samantaray, former Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, host club president Tapan Mohanty, vice-president Prafulla Mishra, secretary Dillip Das and Bhubaneswar Athletic Association joint-secretary Naba Ranjan Pattnaik graced the closing ceremony as guests.

Former Odisha football players Bharati Mishra, Bijay Das, Giridhari Nayak, Manmath Singh, Krushna Chandra Behera and Suvendu Pattnaik were felicitated on the occasion.

March 11 (QF-1):
Unit-VI Athletic Association (Rajesh Nayak 29th, Somnath Nayak 34th) beat Government Sports Hostel, Cuttack 2-0. MoM: Rajesh Nayak.
March 12 (QF-2): FAO Academy, Cuttack (A Kanheya 31st) beat Yazdani Club-73, Bhubaneswar (Janu Xess 9th) 6-5 in tie-breaker. MoM: Manoj Muurmu.
March 15 (QF-3): Tata Football Academy, Jamshedpur (Feroz 67th) beat Maa Bhuasuni Club, Cuttack 1-0. MoM: Feroz (TFA).
March 16 (QF-4): East Coast Railway (Sanjit Panna 18th, Shekh Mustakin 27th) beat Sambalpur Football Academy (Sudam Wari 47th) 2-1. MoM: Bikash Soni (Sambalpur FA).
March 17 (SF-1): Tata Football Academy beat FAO Academy 4-2 in tie-breaker (Full time 0-0). MoM: Vishal.
March 18 (SF-2): Unit-VI Athletic Association (Tofan Nayak 2, Rajat Nag 2, Antaryami Nayak 1, Bikash Nayak 1) beat East Coast Railway 6-0. MoM: Tofan Nayak.
March 19 (Final): Tata Football Academy (Gourav 10th, 69th) beat Unit-VI Athletic Association 2-0. MoM: Gourav.
