A three-member Odisha state women team bagged two gold medals in the 2nd Indoor National Rowing Championship, which was held at Royal Cannought Boat Club, Bund Garden, Sangamvadi, Pune from February 25 to 27, 2017.

According to information provided by Orissa Association for Rowing & Sculling (OARS), Pramila Prava Minz secured one gold medal in LWT women’s individual event, while the other gold medal was captured in LWT women’s pair event by Sanjukta Dung Dung and Manjula Xess.

Competitions were conducted for a distance of 200 metres. The Odisha team, featuring rowers from SAI Water Sports Centre, Jagatpur, Cuttack, was accompanied by SAI coach Paulose P T.

An indoor rower, or rowing machine, is a machine used to simulate the action of watercraft rowing for the purpose of exercise or training for rowing. Indoor rowing has become established as a sport in its own right. The term also refers to a participant in this sport.

Modern indoor rowers are often known as ergometers (colloquially erg or ergo), an ergometer being a device which measures the amount of work performed. The indoor rower is calibrated to measure the amount of energy the rower is using through their use of the equipment.
