Mukteswar Football Club emerged champions in the 14th Gati Krushna Memorial B-Division Football League, defeating United Youth Sports Club, Gandarpur 2-1 in the final at Unit-I High School Ground here today.
After Jagannath Barik gave United YSC the lead in the eighth minute, Mukteswar FC rode on a goal each by Satish Mohanty and Rajib Das to clinch victory. Rajib Das, the joint top-scorer of the tournament with eight goals, was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
Altogether 24 teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) in the memory of BAA founder secretary Gati Krushna Panda from August 26.
BAA president Suresh Kumar Routray and Organising Committee chairman R N Panda handed over the champion and runners-up trophy in the presence of BAA secretary Dr S R Parija, vice-president Santosh Das, former BAA secretary Manoranjan Mohanty and retired sports administrator Ashok Kumar Mohanty.
