  Ananya, Asif capture 25th YGTTA Open singles titles

Ananya Basak and Asif Haque won the women’s and men’s singles titles respectively in the 25th YGTTA All-Odisha Open Table Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Young Generations’ Table Tennis Association (YGTTA), under the auspices of Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) here at Sachin Tendulkar Indoor Hall, Barabati Stadium from August 26 to 29, 2017.

M Eeshwar Rao, Krishan Pursty, Ayush Mohanty and Sahil Suman Bhuyan bagged the remaining four singles titles of the four-day championship. YGTTA also organised the 11Sports State Inter School Table Tennis Tournament simultaneously both in individual and team events.
 

St Joseph’s High Schools, KIIT International School, DPS Kalinga and Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 bagged the four team titles, while the four individual crowns were pocketed by Sikriti Bhagat, Saswat Bal, Swetapadma Dalai and Sreyash Sahoo.

Odisha Sports and Youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera gave away the prizes as chief guest of the closing ceremony. OSTTA secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida, organising secretary Nihar Ranjan Mishra, vice-president Chitta Ranjan Mohanty and YGTTA president Gouri Chandra Bose were present on the occasion.

The tournament was conducted by chief referee Tapan Kha along with competition manager R Krishna Kumar and referees Jiban Ballav Samal, Sujit Kumar Ray, Bijan Das Mohapatra, KSN Murty, Chinna Rao and Kallol Ganguly.

RESULTS:

YGTTA OPEN: Men’s singles: Asif Haque (RBI) bt Tausif Haque (ESI) 4-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-4, 11-6). Women’s singles: Ananya Basak (Khurdha) bt Poushali Ghatak (AG Odisha) 4-0 (11-8, 18-16, 11-8, 14-12). Youth boys’ singles: M Eeshwar Rao (Cuttack) bt Arya S Mahaprasastha (Cuttack) 4-0 (11-7, 11-7, 12-10, 11-9). Junior boys’ singles: Krishan Prusty (BBSR) bt M Eeshwar Rao (CTC) 4-0 (11-8, 11-9, 12-10, 11-3). Cadet boys’ singles: Ayush Mohanty (BBSR) bt Animesh Sahoo (BBSR) 3-1 (10-12, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6). Sub-jr boys’ singles: Sahil Suman Bhuyan (CTC) bt Saswat Bal (Khurdha) 4-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-8, 11-6).

STATE INTER-SCHOOL TEAM: Senior girls: St Joseph High School, BBSR (Nandini Biswal, Shruti Mishra) bt Loyala School, BBSR 3-1. Senior boys: KIIT International School, BBSR (Sanchit Saha, Lalatendu Patra) bt DM School, BBSR 3-2. Junior boys: DPS Kalinga (Ankur Biswal, Arush Tyagi) by DAV CsPur, BBSR 3-1. Junior girls: Kendriya Vidyalaya-I (Rashmi Bhola, Barsa Panda) bt DAV CsPur, BBSR 3-2.

STATE INTER-SCHOOL INDIVIDUAL: Senior girls’ singles: Sikriti Bhagat (Stewart School, CTC) bt Yoshita Jamula (Loyla School, BBSR) 3-0 (11-6, 12-10, 11-6). Senior boys’ singles: Saswat Bal (DM School, BBSR) bt Abinash Tripathy (BJME School, BBSR) 3-1 (11-1, 9-11, 11-3, 11-6). Junior girls’ singles: Swatapadma Dalai (St Xaviers Int SchooL, BBSR) bt Sushree Patnaik (BJEM School, BBSR) 3-1 (11-5, 11-13, 11-4, 11-5). Junior boys’ singles: Sreyash Sahoo (DAV CSpur, BBSR) bt Santosh Pritam (Stewart School, CTC) 3-2 (11-9, 7-11, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9).
