Samanta Chandra Sekhar (Autonomous) College, Puri emerged champions in the Utkal University Inter-College Chess Tournament, wihch concluded here at Madhusudan Law College today. In the five-round tournament, SCS College scored 10 points, remaining unbeaten in the process.

SCB Medical College, Cuttack finished runners-up with seven points. Altogether 88 players from 19 colleges participated in the two-day tournament, which was inaugurated by All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) vice-president Ranjan Kumar Mohanty.

Utkal University Sports Council Director Prof Kabir Mohan Sethi, SCB Medical Asst Prof Dr Soumya Darshan Nayak, MS Law College Principal Dr Sukanta Kumar Nanda, former AOCA secretary Vivek Kumar  Tibarewal, eminent chess coach Satya Ranjan Pattnaik handed over the prizes in the closing ceremony.
