With this defeat, Asia Cup champions India, who were held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions Australia yesterday, slipped to the bottom of the group table with one point in their kitty.
Olympic silver medalists Belgium caused an upset by defeating Olympic champions Argentina 3-2, Spain prevailed over European champions the Netherlands by identical margin, while Australia were held to a 2-2 draw by Germany in three other matches of the day.
