  Balasore men, KISS women State kho-kho champs

Balasore men and KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) women won the titles in the Odisha Senor State Kho-kho Championship, which was organised by Puri District Kho Kho Association (KDKKA), under the auspices of Odisha Kho Kho Association (OKKA) at Indoor Stadium in Puri from October 2 to 4, 2017.

In the finals, Balasore men defeated KISS, while KISS women beat Jagatsinghpur. Puri women and Jagatsinghpur men finished third. Sibangi Gamango (KISS) was adjudged best women runner, while Sasmita Nathasharma (Jagatsinghpur) and Madhusmita Ojha were named best woman allrounder and best woman chaser respectively.

 

In the men’s section, Sipun Mukhi (Balasore), Lipun Mukhi (Balasore) and Sukhlal Hembram (KISS) were declared best runner, best allrounder and best chaser respectively. Similarly Karan Marandi (KISS), Subashish Mohapatra (Nayagarh) and Badri Sabar (Gajapati) won prizes as best up-coming runner, best upcoming allrounder and best upcoming chaser respectively.

In women’s section, Ananya Pradhan (Puri), Subhashree Singh (KISS) and Barsha Singh (Mayurbhanj) won prizes as best upcoming runner, best upcoming allrounder and best upcoming chaser respectively.

A total of 524 players and technical officials from 17 districts and KISS University participated. Puri Munipal ity chairman Jayant Kumar Sadangi handed over the trophies in the presence of Puri District Athletic Association secretary Rabi Sankar Pratihari, OKKA president Narayan Patra and secretary Pradyumna Mishra. Balangir-based retired sports teacher Padma Charan Das was honoured for his life-time contribution.
