Odisha made a winning start in the East Zone Inter-State Under-23 Women One-day League, trouncing Jharkhand by 97 runs at Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata today. Batting first after captain Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan won the toss, Odisha mustered a healthy total of 170 for seven and then bundled out Jharkhand for a paltry 73 to gain full four points.

Reemalaxmi Ekka was star performer of the Odisha team, hitting a 16-ball unbeaten 28 and taking three wickets for 16 runs. Among other successful Odisha players, Sumitra Sahoo was the top scorer with an unbeaten 40, while openers Sasmita Mahalik and Anjali Singh contributed 30 and 25 runs respectively.

Rajashree Swain and Louisa Dash also achieved notable success for Odisha with the ball, taking two wickets each. Odisha will next meet Bengal on February 27.
