  BCCI announces players pay package for 2017-18

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Committee of Administrators today announced the Annual Player Contracts for the period from October 2017 to September 2018. A new category A+ has been added for the top-rung cricketers. The players in the A+ category will get Rs 7 crore retainership.

However, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been left in the A Category with Rs 5 crore annual retainer fee. The CoA was of the view that the performance and position of Indian Cricket needs to be recognised with the fee structure comparable to the best in the world.

But women cricketer did not get a substantial hike in their pay packet despite establishing the BCCI in the world of women’s cricket. For women’s cricketers, a new category ‘C’ has been included where players will get only Rs 10 lakh per annum.

However, there is a windfall for the domestic cricketers. The Domestic Match fee structure will witness an over 200 per cent hike in each category. T20 match fee will be 50 per cent of the respective category.

Retainership fee structure for Senior Men: Grade-A+: Rs 7 crore; Grade-A: Rs 5 crore; Grade-B: Rs 3 crore; Grade-C: Rs 1 crore.
Retainership fee structure for Senior Women: Grade-A: Rs 50 lakh; Grade-B: Rs 30 lakh; Grade-C: Rs 10 lakh.

Per day domestic match fee for men: Senior: Rs 35,000 for Playing XI and Rs 17,500 for reserves. Under-23: Rs 17,500 for Playing XI and Rs 8,750 for reserves. Under-19: Rs 10,500 for Playing XI and Rs 5,250 for reserves. Under-16: Rs 3,500 for Playing XI and Rs 1,750 for reserves.

Per day domestic match fee for women: Senior: Rs 12,500 for Playing XI and Rs 6,250 for reserves. Under-23: Rs 5,500 for Playing XI and Rs 2,750 for reserves. Under-19/16: Rs 5,500 for Playing XI and Rs 2,750 for reserves.
