  ATK, Mumbai City FC win Super Cup qualifiers

ATK (Kolkata) and Mumbai City FC completed the line-up for the Final Round of the 1st Super Cup by winning the last two Qualifiers at the Kalinga Stadium here today. Two-time Indian Super League champions ATK outclassed Chennai City FC 4-1, while Mumbai City FC came from behind to beat a spirited Indian Arrows 2-1.

Hitesh Sharma (37th), Zequinha (57th), Ashutosh Mehta (74th) and captain Robbke Keane (82nd) scored for ATK, while Joachim (50th) pulled one back for Chennai City FC. South African Ntuthuko Mbatha of ATK won the prize as man of the match. ATK will face FC Goa in the fifth pre-quarterfinal on April 3.

 

Earlier in the evening, Indian Arrows, comprising mostly of India U-17 players, took the lead through Rahul Praveen in the 76th minute. But the Mumbai outfit fought back to win the match in extra time with Cameroonian Emana scoring their first goal off a penalty kick in the 90th minute and Everton Santos netting the decisive goal in the 104th minute.

Rahul Praveen of Indian Arrows pocketed the man of the match prize of Rs 25,000. Mumbai City FC will play Kingfisher East Bengal in the seventh pre-quarterfinal on April 5. Despite tournament hosts offering 4,000 tickets free of cost for the last two qualifiers, stands continued to be deserted.
