  Rising Students crowned Mulberry CPL champions

Rising Students Club emerged champions in the Mulberry Cuttack Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating their Cuttack city opponents Solar Cricket Club by four wickets in the low-scoring final at Nimpur ground, Cuttack today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and the runners-up side Rs 25,000.

Pratik Tripathy (Rising Student) was adjudged both best batsman and man of the tournament and he pocketed Rs 4,000. Prakash Panda (Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club) and Suryakanta Pradhan (Rising Students) became richer by Rs 2,000 each as the best bowler and man of the final match respectively.

State Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera and Hi-Tech Medical College Director Dr Premranjan Ojha handed over the trophy and cash prizes in the closing ceremony. Host Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club president Bibhu Satpathy was present on the occasion. The tournament, featuriing 16 teams from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, was inaugurated by Cuttack Mayor Meenakhi Behera earlier on April 22.

April 22 (Match No 1, PQF): Biswabharati Club
140/9 in 20 overs (Subit Biswal 53, RR Rout 33; Tarakanta Samal 4/22; Deepak Behera 3/22) lost to Rising Students Club 141/6 in 19.4 overs (Pratik Anurag Das 25, Deepak Behera 22) by 4 wkts. Man of the Match: Tarakanta Samal.

April 22 (Match No 2, PQF): Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club 186/5 in 20 overs (Rajesh Dhuper 74, Abinash Nahyak 46, Iqbal Amin 31, Girija Rout 20; Nrusingha Mahakud 2/26, Sovan Sourav Swain 2/34) beat Red Star Club 117/10 in 16.3 overs (Nrusingha Mahakud 37, Sanny Nandi 21; Prakash Panda 3/19, Sunil Roul 2/9, Lagnajit Bej 2/24, Girija Rout 2/24) by 78 runs. April 23 (Match No 3, PQF): Juvenile Club 173/6 in 20 overs (Ramachandra Behera 72, Mojakir Ali 37, Subrat Samal 28; Seikh Salman 2/37) beat Scan Sporting 142/5 in 20 overs (Seikh Salman 57, Alok Sethi 26, Barun Kamyani 21 n.o; Sumit Sharma 2/21) by 31 runs. MoM: Ramachandra Behera.

April 23 (Match No 4, PQF): Rameswar Sporting 99/9 in 20 overs (Tuhin Tushar Tripathy 29, Paresh Patel 23; Anand Sahool 2/10, Manish Rout 2/22) lost to Solar Club 88/5 in 13 overs (Satyajit Sabat 44 n.o; Deepak Mangaraj 2/13, Rakesh Sharma 2/17) by 5 wickets (D/L Method). MoM: Satyajit Sabat.

April 25 (Match No 5, PQF): Union Sporting 135/8 in 20 overs (Md Akram 42, Om Bikash Nayak 35, Niranjan Behera 30; Piyush Pattnaik 2/24, Asis Pradhan 2/33, Khyamasagar Bal 2/37) beat Trail Blazzers 97/9 in 20 overs (Sagar Ku Rout 22, Srijay Mohanty 21; Niranjan Behera 2/12, Md Akram 2/20, Sourav Kanojia 2/20) by 38 runs.
