  India Jr Men hockey team suffers defeat after win
BHUBANESWAR,15 Jul 2018 (Team Orisports)

After posting a 5-0 win over Ireland in the opening match, Indian Junior men lost to Great Britain 1-3 in their second match of the Six-Nation U-23 Hockey Tournament at Antwerp in Belgium today. Young Odisha star Dipsan Tirkey is leading Indian Junior Men Hockey Team in this tournament.

The 18-member team, announced by Hockey India, also includes three more Odisha players in goalkeeper Pankaj Kumar Rajak, defender Nilam Sanjeep Xess and forward Shilanand Lakra.

Hardik Singh is shouldering the duties of vice-captain. The Indian team would play their remaining four matches against Great Britain, Belgium, Malaysia and Netherlands. The top two teams at the end of the round-robin matches would face each other in the final on July 21 whereas the remaining teams would play classification matches.

According to Hockey India High Performance Director David John, the Antwerp tournament will help the team prepare well for the 8th Sultan of Johor Cup 2018, scheduled to be held in October this year. Indian junior men will play their opening match against Ireland on July 14 at 15.30hrs IST.

July 15: India
(Pradeep Singh 57’) lost to Great Britain (Tim Nurse 19’, Duncan Scott 34’, Cameron Gold 57’) 1-3.
