Impressive performance by Odisha allrounder Poonam Nayak helped East Zone beat South Zone by seven wickets in their second match of the U-19 Girls Inter-Zonal One-day League at Chennai today. This was the second straight win for East Zone, who earlier beat North Zone 84 runs in their opening match.

Batting first, South were bundled out for 85 runs. East Zone overhauled the target in 35.2 overs, losing three wickets in the process. Poonam picked up two wickets for 10 runs and then top scored for her team with 40 runs.

Among other notable East Zone performers, Mamta Paswan and Shreya Karar bagged three wickets each. East Zone will next meet North East Zone on July 20.
