Ashish Kumar Parida and Simran Neha Ekka made it a double for Odisha, winning the boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the Gurukul AITA-OTA Championship Series U16 Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Gurukul Resort Tennis Complex, Mendhasal, near here today.

Top seed Ashish Parida beat statemate Sangram Kumar Patra in the boys singles final 6-4, 6-0. In the girls’ singles final, second seed Simran defeated Aditi Pradhan of Jharkhand 6-2, 6-2. Winners and runners-up gained 15 and 10 AITA ranking points respectively.

A total of 25 players from West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha participated in the tournament. Tournament Director Pradeep Pradhan gave away the trophies in presence of the tournament referee Jatin Batsya and Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) manager Prakash Pattnaik.
