Subodh Kumar Routray was today re-elected as president of Odisha Volleyball Association (OVA) for a four-year term (2018-2022). An engineer by profession, Routray defeated Pradeep Kumar Mohanty in the election held at Odisha Olympic Association Meeting Hall in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.

According to Election Officer and Odisha Olympic Association secretary M A Alam, out of a total of 42 eligible voters of different affiliated units of OVA, 30 exercised their franchises. Routray emerged winner, securing 29 votes, while one vote was found invalid.

The elections proved to be a major setback for Pradeep Mohanty, who not only suffered defeat in the election for the president’s post, but also was replaced as the secretary by KIIT and KISS Sports Director Gaganendu Dash. It was not known whether he turned up to cast his vote today.

Election of OVA was held only for the president’s post, while all other office-bearers were elected uncontested three days ago. Other office-bearers include one working president, six vice-presidents, one secretary, two joint-secretaries and one treasurer.
