  Asiad 2018: Sarnobat shoots for historic gold

Rahi Sarnobat became the first Indian female shooter to win gold medal at the Asian Games today. She achieved the historic success in women’s 25m pistol event on the fourth day of the ongoing 18th Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang, Indonesia.

Besides the gold, India won four bronze medals in wushu to extend their overall medal tally to 15, which included four gold, three silver and eight bronze. The four bronze medals in wushu were secured by Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh (men’s 60kg sanda), Narender Grewal (men’s 65kg sanda), Santosh Kumar (men’s 56kg sanda) and Naorem Roshibina Devi (women’s 60kg sanda).

The day also became memorable for Indian men’s hockey team, which mauled Hong Kong 26-0 to break an 86-year-old record. This is India`s own highest goal difference record, the previous best being 24-1 against USA in Berlin Olympic Games.
