  Asia U18 Girls Rugby 7s: China champs; India 4th

China emerged champions in the 3rd Asia Rugby Sevens U-18 Girls Championship, defeating Hong Kong 28-5 in the final here at Kalinga Stadium today. Host India finished fourth after losing to Thailand 5-25. Qatar won the Plate final, beating Philippines 15-10.

Earlier in the semifinals, China beat Thailand 47-0, while Hong Kong prevailed over India 50-7. Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal handed over the trophy in the closing ceremony. Asian Rugby Football Unior president Aga Hussain, Local MP Prasanna Patsani, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and Sports Department Secretary Vishal Dev were present on the occasion.

 

RESULTS:

Bowl League:
Laos beat Bangladesh 51-0; Chinese Taipei beat Nepal 24-0.
Plate Semifinals: Phillippines beat UAE 17-5; Qatar beat Sri Lanka 17-10.
Cup Semifinals: Hong Kong beat India 50-7; China beat Thailand 47-0.
11th/12th Place: Nepal beat Bangladesh 32-0.
9th/10th Place: Laos beat Chinese Taipei 32-0.
7th/8th Place: UAE beat Sri Lanka 22-0.
Plate Final (5th/6th Place): Qatar beat Philippines 15-10.
3rd/4th Place: Thailand beat India 25-5.
CUP FINAL: China beat Hong Kong 28-5.
