Giving a strong reply to host Odisha’s first-innings total of 324, Haryana were 239 for three at stumps on the second day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C match here at KIIT Cricket Stadium today. The visitors now trail by 85 runs with seven wickets in hand.
Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight total of 232 for six, Odisha lost their last four wickets for 94 runs. Shantanu Mishra consolidated the Odisha innings with a compact knock of 71 (174b, 9x4), which was his third half-century in first-class cricket. Debutant Debabrata Pradhan also contributed a notable 36. For Haryana, Tinu Kundu was most successful bowler with a haul of four wickets for 44 runs.
Haryana started their first innings on disastrous note, losing both the openers with only 18 runs on the board. But an unbeaten century by Himanshu Rana and his 176-run partnership for the third wicket with Chaitanya Bishnoi helped Haryana bounced back into the match.
Bishnoi scored 75 before being trapped infront of the wicket by debutant Rajesh Mohanty, who picked up two wickets for 36 runs. Rana and Pramod Chandila were batting on 113 and 34 respectively when stumps were drawn for the day.
