  Myanmar women crowned Hero Gold Cup champions

Myanmar justified their top ranking (Asia No 9) by emerging champions in the Hero Gold Cup Four-Nation Women Football Tournament here at Kalinga Stadium today. Two second-half goals helped Myanmar beat Asia No 20 Nepal 3-1 in the final to take home the top prize of Rs 7 lakh.

Yee Yee Oo scored twice (30`, 62`) and Win Theingi Tun (53`) contributed one goal for Mayanmar. Manjali Kumari (44`) pulled one back for Nepal who settled with the runners-up prize of Rs 5 lakh. Myanmar also received the Fair Play prize of Rs 3 lakh.

 

Win Theingi Tun of Myanmar won the award as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, which carried a prize of Rs 1.5 lakh. Sabitra Bhandari (Nepal) and Yee Yee Oo (Myanmar) with four goals each received Rs 1 lakh each as the joint highest-scorer of the tournament. The prize for Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament was bagged by Zar Zar Myint (Myanmar), who pocketed Rs 1 lakh.

The trophy and prizes were handed over by Odisha Develompment Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy, State Sports & Youth Services Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, All India Football Federation General Secretary Kushal Das and National Football Teams Director Abhishek Yadav.
