Attractive half-century by captain Subhransu Senapati went in vain as hosts Odisha suffered a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Chhattisgarh in their opening Group-D match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Senior Men T20 Tournament at Barabati Stadium here today. The win fetched Chhattisgarh four points, while Odisha drew blank.
Put into bat by Chhattisgarh captain Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Odisha were bowled out for 137 in 19.4 overs. Senapati hit six boundaries and one six in his 37-ball knock of 51. Besides Senapati, No 10 batsman Rajesh Mohanty contributed a 24-ball 36, which included three fours and two sixes.
But the victory target of 138 proved to be easy for Chhattisgarh as the visitors rode on unbeaten half-century each by openers Rishabh Tiwari and Shashank Chandrakar to rompe home in 16.1 overs. Odisha will next meet Haryana also at Barabati Stadium Tomorrow.
