Unbeaten half-century by Sandeep Pattanaik and his 95-run unfinished partnership for the second wicket with Rajesh Dhuper powered hosts Odisha to a nine-wicket win over Mizoram in their Group-D match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Senior Men T20 Tournament at DRIEMS Ground, Tangi, near here today. This was the first win in three matches for Odisha who will next meet Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow.
Chasing a modest target of 92, Odisha clinched victory in 12.5 overs, losing the only wicket of debutant Swastik Samal for a blob. Pattanaik hit eight boundaries and one six in his 39-ball unbeaten 54, while opener Dhuper remained unbeaten with a 36-ball 38.
Earlier, Mizoram were dismissed for 91 after they opted to bat first. Left-arm spinner Pappu Roy was most successful Odisha bowler, bagging three wickets for eight runs, while pacer Rajesh Mohanty chipped in with two wickets for 12 runs.
