Notwithstanding fine allround performance by captain Madhusmita Behera, Odisha suffered a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Karnataka in their first Group-B Super League match of the BCCI Senior Women T20 League at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivili, Mumbai today.
Madhusmita top-scored with a 48-ball 38 to guide Odisha to a competitive total of 106 for four after she opted to bat first. In reply, Karnataka faced stiff fight against Odisha bowling attack before romping home with three balls to spare, losing seven wickets in the process.
Madhusmita was most economic among Odisha bowlers, conceding 12 runs in her four overs and taking one wicket. Odisha will next meet Assam at the same venue on March 8.
