  Union Sporting lift Sumit Bose Memorial Trophy

Union Sporting Club emerged champions in the 2nd Sumit Bose Memorial Under-16 Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, defeating Juvenile Club by 68 runs in the final at SCB Medical Ground here today. Bimal Das was the architect of Union Sporting win, bagging six wickets for 30 runs.

Juvenile reached final with two wins, one draw and one loss for a total of five points. Union Sporting booked berth in the final with three wins in a row. Jagyanjint Sahoo achieved a hat-trick by bagging the man of the match prize for the third successive time at the league stage. Biswabharati Club organised the tournament from 21st April, 2019 with five teams of Cuttack city in the fray.

 

Odisha Cricket Association former secretary Ashirbad Behera joined the closing ceremony and chief guest and handed over the trophy and prizes. Former India allronder Sanjay Raul, host Biswabharati Club president Biswajit Mohanty, secretary Soumitra Choudhury and treasurer Susant Kumar Mohanty were present on the occasion.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: Man of the tournament: Jagyanjit Sahoo (Union Sporting), Best batsman: Saideep Mohapatra (Juvenile), Best bowler: Bimal Das (Union Sporting), Best wicket-keeper: Sambit Kumar Sahoo (Biswabharati), Best fielder: K Kiran Kumar (Biswabharati).

April 21 (Match-1): Rising Students Club 144/10 in 39.4 overs (Prince Sanket Behera 28, Pratyush Pradhan 28, Sumeet Rout 26; Sohail Khan 4/19) lost to Juvenile Club 145/6 in 34.2 overs (Saideep Mohapatra 67, Diptanshu Das 35*; Pratyush Pradhan 4/28) by 4 wkts. MoM: Sohail Khan.

April 22 (Match-2): Union Sporting Club 235/6 in 40 overs (Jagyanjit Sahoo 107*, Chitta Ranjan Behera 77; Mahesh Mahanta 2/34, Chandrachuda Purohit 2/39) beat Biswabharati Club 178/5 in 40 overs (Sambit Kumar Sahoo 99*, K Kiran Kumar 27) by 57 runs. MoM: Jagyanjit Sahoo.

April 24 (Match 3): Union Sporting Club 164/10 in 40 overs (Rajib Lochan Sahoo 50, Nitish Muduli 27; BLS Bajrangi 3/33, Sk Danish Akhtar 2/19) beat Juvenile Club 82/10 in 32.4 overs (Saideep Mohaptra 22; Jagyanjit Sahu 3/5, Bimal Das 2/5) by 82 runs. MoM: Jagyanjit Sahoo.

April 25 (Match 4): Biswabharati Club 171/10 in 38.5 overs (Rashmi Ranjan Sarangi 36, Md Zishan 33; Snehasish Mohanty 3/31, Pratik Pr Das 2/24, Nayak Sapalya Subham 2/26) beat Solar Club 154/10 in 39.2 overs (Arvind Jena 39, Pratik Pr Das 36; Pritam Kumar Das 3/37, Anshuman Patra 2/10, Mahesh Mahanta 2/34) by 17 runs. April 28 (Match 7): Rising Students Club 199/10 in 39.4 overs (Biswajit Patra 69, Pratyush Pradhan 34, Prince Sanket Behera 23; Md Zishan Ansari 4/31) beat Biswabharati Club 95/10 in 28.2 overs (Sambit Kumar Sahoo 30; Biswajit Patra 2/7, Digvijay Patra 2/13, Sumit Rout 2/25) by 104 runs.
