June 16: Promising Odisha shuttler Rutaparna Panda achieved notable success in the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament at Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), winning the womens doubles title and finishing mixed-doubles runners-up today.

Partnering with Maneesha Kukkapali (AP), Rutaparna won the women’s doubles final, defeating current National champions and 3rd seed Karnataka pair of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K 23-21, 21-10.

Rutaparna finished mixed doubles runners-up with Shlok Ramchandran of Maharashtra as her partner. They lost to top seeds Dhruv Kapilaa and Meghna Jakkampudi in the final 21-17, 20-22, 16-21.

Earlier in the semifinals, Rutaparna who has been honing her skills at Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and Sholk beat Krishna Prasad and Ashwini Bhat K 12-21, 21-9, 21-10.
