Upcoming Odisha girl Sohini Sanjay Mohanty added one more trophy to her showcase by emerging under-12 singles champion in the AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament at Jalandhar in Punjab yesterday.

Top seed and All India No 3 Sohini won the singles title when she defeated Shagun Kumari of Uttar Pradesh in the final 6-3, 6-2. Earlier in the semifinals, the Odisha lass beat third seed Ishwarya Jadhav from Maharashtra 7-6(3), 6-4.

By virtue of her title triumph, Sohini collected 50 AITA ranking points. Student of Loyola School and trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Frahan Ali Tennis Academy, Sohini also participated in the under-14 singles event of the tournament and reached semifinals before losing to Premya Slathia 1-6, 4-6.
