Century by stumper Sourav Gouda went in vain as Odisha lost to Chandigarh by four wickets on the fourth and last day of their seventh Plate-Group match of the Col C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Tournament at GSSS, Sector 26, Chandigarh today. This was the first defeat in seven matches for Odisha.

Odisha lost half of the battle as they were bundled out for 88 after put to bat by Chandigarh captain Amrit Lal Lubana. In reply, hosts Chandigarh compiled a healthy total of 238 which gave them a lead of 150.

Odisha bounced back into the match, mustering 275 in the second innings. Opening the innings, Gouda led the fightback as he played a solid knock of 114 (146 balls, 18x4, 1x6). Harshit Rathod further consolidated the Odisha second innings, hitting 75 (110 balls, 12x4).

But the impressive batting by Gouda and Rathod could not save Odisha from the defeat. Chasing 126 for victory, Chandigarh romped home, losing six wickets in the process. Odisha will next meet Pondicherry at DRIEMS Ground, Tangi (Cuttack) from February 6 to 9.
