Notwithstanding a captains knock of 80 by Sandeep Pattanaki, Odisha lost to Tripura by 10 runs in their fourth Elite Group-C match of the BCCI U-23 Mens One-Day Tournament in Dehradun today. This was the third defeat for Odisha.

Chasing 228 for victory, Odisha were 178 for four at one stage, thanks to a 106-run stand for the third wicket between Pattanaik and Swastik Samal, followed by a 51-run association for the fourth wicket between Patnaik and Soubhagya Ranjan Mishra.

But the run out incident of Mishra turned the tide against Odisha as they slumped to 189 for eight, losing five wickets in addition of 11 runs. Despite useful contributions by Samal, Mishra and Kshyamasagar Bal, Odisha were left stranded at 217 for eight. Pattanaik faced 155 balls for his 80, which included eight boundaries.

Earlier put into bat, Tripura capitalised on century by Bikram Kumar Das and a half-century by R Dey to compile a challenging total of 227 for eight. Among Odisha bowlers, Preet Kanwar Singh Chohan, Rahul Choudhary and Tarani Sa picked up two wicket each.
