Odisha ended their campaign in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Tournament with a four-wicket consolation win over Assam in their fifth and last Elite Group-B match at Jadavpur University Ground in Kolkata today. But the win came too late as Odisha bowed out of the tournament from the league stage, losing four matches in a row.

Odisha owed their victory to former captain Subhranshu Senapati, who hit a 48-ball 64 with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Chasing a competitive target of 149, Odisha romped home with six balls to spare, losing six wickets in the process. Returning to Odisha team after a gap of five years, Pratik Das also contributed an unbeaten 20 (6 balls, 3x4, 1x6) to the win today.

Earlier, electing to bat, Assam compiled 148 for five in the stipulated 20 overs. Govinda Poddar was the most successful Odisha bowler, taking two wickets for 28 runs. Odisha made four changes in their team for this match, dropping captain Biplab Samantray, Ankit Yadav, Walter Toppo and Sunil Roul.

The four were replaced by Sukesh Heera, Pratik Das, Ashish Rai and Sarbeswar Mohanty. Wicket-keeper Rajesh Dhuper was made the new captain and the changes proved to be sussessful. Heera and Rai made their T20 debut in this match.
