OCA domestic tournaments from July 25
07 Jul 2021

After a long gap, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) would conduct its domestic tournaments this month, subject to approval of the State Government. This was decided in the meeting of OCA Tournament Committee and the Selection Committee (Senior Men, Junior Men and Women) today.

As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already released schedule of their domestic competitions, in view of the same the OCA has sought permission from the State Govt for conducting the State domestic tournaments and also for
the State preparatory camps for participation in the BCCI events.

OCA will resume its cricketing activities gradually, keeping in a close look to the pandemic developments and also maintaining all necessary guidelines related to COVID. As decided all the cricketing activities of OCA will be conducted in bio-secured bubbles as per the norms.

As per the decisions taken today, the OCA Inter-District Men Tournament (Senior and U-19) will commence from 25th July 2021 at Cuttack/Bhubaneswar. Taking all the 37 teams into six groups, the league matches would be played in one-day format, whereas the super league matches will be played in three different formats; one-day, T-20 and multi-days (2-days).

There will be eight teams in the super league, featuring six top teams from the league and two new teams in the name of Rest of Odisha A and B, to be selected by the OCA Selectors on the basis of performances, from the 31 teams who fail to qualifiy to super league. This would give further chance to the individual talented players of those 31 district teams.

Similarly, OCA Inter-District U-16Men Tournament will commence from 25th July 2021 at Bhubaneswar. Taking all the 36 teams into six groups, the League matches would be played in one-day format, whereas the super league matches will be played among eight teams in multi-days (2-days) format.

Moreover, the OCA Inter-District Women Tournament will also commence from 25th July 2021 at Bhubaneswar in both One-day and T-20 format. From the performances of the above tournaments the OCA will scout the best players for all the three formats to represent Odisha State Men (Senior, U-23, U-19 and U-16) and Women (Senior, U-23 and U-19) teams for BCCI tournaments.
