  Hockey: Indian men end Argentina tour with 4-2 win

India ended their tour of Argentina on a memorable note, winning the fourth and last practice match 4-2 in Cenard, Buenos Aires today. In the earlier three practice games, India won first one 4-3 on April 6, while host Argentina won the third 1-0 on April 13. The second match between two nations ended in 4-4 draw on April 7.

During their 16-day Argentina tour, India also won both of their FIH Pro League matches against Olympic champions Argentina in Cenard on April 11 and 12. The 22-member Indian team featured three players from Odisha. They were: defenders Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas and forward Shilanand Lakra.
 

INDIAN MEN TEAM: Goalkeepers: P R Sreejesh, Krishan Bahadur Pathak. Defenders: Amit Rohidas, Gurinder Singh, Harmanpreet Singh (Vice-captain), Surender Kumar, Rupinderpal Singh, Varun Kumar, Birendra Lakra. Mid-fielders: Jaskaran Singh, Hardik Singh, Manpreet Singh (Captain), Vivek Sagar Prasad, Raj Kumar Pal, Sumit, Nilakanta Sharma. Forwards: Shamsher Singh, Gurjant Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Shilanand Lakra.
Coaches & Support Staff: Graham Reid (Chief Coach), Gregg Clark (Analytical Coach), Shivendra Singh (Coach), Robin Anthony Webster Arkell (Scientific Advisor), Sudeep Satpathy (Doctor), Ratinasamy Bose Kannan (Physiotherapist), Ashok Kumar C (Video Analyst), Arup Naskar (Masseur).

RESULTS:
April 6 (Practice Match 1): India (Nilakanta Sharma 16th, Harmanpreet Singh 28th, Rupinder Pal Singh 33rd, Varun Kumar 47th) beat Argentina (Leandro Tolini 35th, 53rd; Maico Casella 41st) 4-3.
April 7 (Practice Match 2): India (Varun Kumar 7th, 44th; Rajkumar Pal 13th, Rupinder Pal Singh 14th) drew with Argentina (Leandro Tolini 10th, Lucas Toscani 23rd, Ignacio Ortiz 42nd, Lucas 57th) 4-4.
April 13 (Practice Match 3): India los to Argentina (Lucas Toscani 8th) 0-1.
April 14 (Practice Match 4): India (Rupinder Pal Singh 3rd, Jaskaran Singh 12th, Shilanand Lakra 50th, Surender Kumar 58th) beat Argentina (Leandro Tolini 14th, Pedro Ibarra 54th) 4-2.
