  U-16 Cricket: Sai, Jahid shine with 5-wicket hauls

Sai Prayas Pattnaik and Jahid Khan shared honours of the day, bagging five wickets each for Kalahandi and Jagatsinghpur respectively in preliminary league matches of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Bhubaneswar and Khordha today.

Wonderful haul of five wickets for eight runs by Sai Prayas helped Kalahandi beat Boudh by 44 runs, while Jagatsinghpur rode on a haul of five for 35 by Jahid to get the better of Koraput by 53 runs.

Balasore, Angul, Rourkela and Mayurbhanj posted wins in four other matches of the day. Bowlers asserted supremacy in all six matches of the day with six among them capturing four wickets each.
 

Among batsmen, Shreyansh Bhardwaj was the top scorer of the day, hitting an 88-ball 89 for Angul. Shivam Agarwal (Balasore), Snehal K (Rourkela) and Jyotirmay Mahanta (Koraput) also slammed a half-century each.

RESULTS (16 August, 2021):

Match 61 (At Khordha Ground): Balasore 183/10 in 44.5 overs (Shivam Agarwal 80; Amlan Jyoti Samantray 3/26, Isan K Patra 3/22) beat Kendrapara 88/7 in 22.4 overs (Sushobhan Das 3/9, Swabhiman Lenka 2/25) by 53 runs (DLS Method).

Match 62 (At CV Raman Ground, Bhubaneswar): Angul 170/10 in 41 overs (Shreyansh Bhardwaj 89, Stya P Behera 26; Amaren D Parida 4/40, Adarsh Patnaik 3/25) beat Ganjam 110/10 in 41 overs (Satya P Behera 4/18, Shakti S Purty 2/12) by 60 runs.

Match 63 (At Hi-Tech Ground, Bhubaneswar): Kalahandi 74/10 in 26.4 overs (Ratiranjan Barik 4/19, Pritam Behera 3/8, Amit K Sahu-2/15) beat Boudh 30/10 in 20 overs (Sai Prayas Pattnaik 5/8, Arpit Kumar Panda 3/14, Ajinder Singh 2/4) by 44 runs (DLS Method).

Match 64 (At Centurion Ground, Jatni): Rourkela 230/5 in 50 overs (Snehal K 74*, Adarsh Raiguru 40, Ashish K Mallick 34; Abhinab Nanda 3/46) beat Sambalpur 147/8 in 42 overs (Krish Singh 37, Sashwat Prasad 34*; Sk M Naqueeb 4/32) by 58 runs (DLS Method).

Match 65 (At Paramount Ground, Bhubaneswar): Koraput 168/10 in 34.5 overs (Jyotirmay Mahanta 64, Subham Halan 38; Jahid Khan 5/35, Jyoti R Nayak 2/30, Ram K Dash 2/22) lost to Jagatsinghpur 148/4 in 28 overs (Akash Das 38, Shakti P Sethy 22*, Ram K Dash 21) by 53 runs (DLS Method).

Match 66 (At Town Club Ground, Bhubaneswar): Mayurbhanj 152/10 in 34.2 overs (Jay Kumar 25; Arpit Das 4/42, Raj K Mahanadia 2/23, Rajesh K Behera 2/21) beat Rayagada 49/10 in 26 overs (Naman Sharma 4/6, Surai Hembram 3/7, Ujjwal K Yadav 2/6) by 103 runs.
