The first six super league matches of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament, scheduled to be played today at different grounds in Cuttack, were abandoned due to rain and wet outfield. The super league, featuring 12 teams and a total of 30 matches, will be completed on August 25.
According to Odisha Cricket Association, super league matches will be played in one-day format, consisting of top six teams from the preliminary league and another with six teams from among the Rest-of-Odisha players. The 12 super league teams have been divided into groups.
Teams reaching super league from preliminary league are: East Coast Railway, Sundargarh, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Cuttack-A and Rourkela. The six Rest-of-Odisha teams have been named as Odisha Blue, Odisha Green, Odisha Yellow, Odisha Red, Odisha Violet and Odisha Pink.
Earlier a total of around 740 players, representing 37 affiliated district units of Odisha Cricket Association participated in the preliminary league. Out of the 740 players, 90 players from other districts which did not make it to super league, were selected onĀ the basis of their performance, formed the six of Rest-of-Odisha teams.
SUPER LEAGUE GROUPS:
Group-1: East Coast Railway, Sundargarh, Khordha, Odisha Blue, Odisha Green, Odisha Yellow.
Group-2: Jharsuguda, Cuttack-A, Rourkela, Odisha Red, Odisha Violet, Odisha Pink.
