  U-16 Cricket: Ganjam, Angul, Balasore post wins

Ganjam, Angul and Balasore registered wins in respective preliminary league matches of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Khordha and Bhubaneswar today. Ganjam rode on a five-wicket haul by Adarsh Patnaik and a half-century by captain-cum-stumper Debasish Behera to prevail over Kendrapara by one wicket.

A breezy half-century by captain Panakala Sasanka helped Angul beat Kalahandi by eight runs, while Swasti P Nayak captured four wickets and Swabhiman Lenka hit a 57-ball 55 to enable Balasore outplay Boudh by 111 runs.

Among other notable performers of the day, Pratik Soham (Kendrapara) and Ratiranjan Barik (Boudh) bagged four wickets each.

Match 85
(At CV Raman Ground, Bhubaneswar): Balasore 176/9 in 31 overs (Swabhiman Lenka 55; Ratiranjan Barik 4/25, L R Rao 2/8) beat Boudh 65/10 in 24.2 overs (Swasti P Nayak 4/22, Kamalakanta Mohalik 3/6, Rudra Biswal 2/20) by 111 runs.

Match 86
(At Centurion Ground, Jatni): Kendrapara 167/10 in 47.3 overs (Krishna Mohanty 37, Ashim Barad 27; Adarsh Patnaik 5/30, Abhineet K Patnaik 2/33) lost to Ganjam 171/9 in 45.3 overs (Debasish Behera 67, Atulya G Padhy 37; Pratik Soham 4/26, Sishira Pattnaik 2/19) by 1 wicket.

Match 87
(At Khordha Ground): Angul 132/4 in 20 overs (Panakala Sasanka 51, Shreyansh Bhardwaj 49; Chinmay Naik 3/4) beat Kalahandi 124/8 in 20 overs (Pramod K Durga 25; Panakala Sasanka 2/14, Abhas R Sahu 2/16) by 8 runs.
