August 29: Utkal Karata School today felicitated five sports journalists of the state on the occasion of its 41st Foundation Day, which coincided with the National Sports Day. The five sports journalists were: Debasis Sundaray, D Niranjan Reddy, Benudhar Das, Debi Prasanna Panigrahi and Samir Prasad Rout.

Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey graced the felicitation function as guests. Utkal Karate School founder Dr Hari Prasad Pattanayak presided over the function.

Utkal Karate School is a Bhubaneswar-based leading academy for karate, self-defence, physical fitness, yoga and sports training of Odisha. It is an affiliated unit of Odisha State Karate Association.

Utkal Karate School has been felicitating sports journalists of Odisha since 2018. Sanatan Pani, Susanta Mohanty, Suresh Kumar Swain, Sambit Mohapatra and Samikya Patnaik were felicitated in the first year.

In the year 2019, the school felicitated sports journalists Sujit Das, Tapan Kumar Swain, Sanjib Kumar Biswal, Surjya Prasad Rath, Umakanta Mishra and Debi Prasana Mohanty.
