  Kalahandi Cup T20: Samal slams 87 in Rourkela win

Rourkela captain Swastik Samal slammed a swashbuckling 87 off 44 balls to power his team to a 30-run win over Odisha Violet in their super league T20 match of the Kalahandi Cup Senior & U-19 Men Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Sunshine Ground in Cuttack today.

East Coast Railway, Odisha Yellow, Odisha Green, Odisha Red and Cuttack-A posted wins in five other matches of the day. An unbeaten half-century by captain Sandeep Pattnaik and a three-wicket haul by KG Krishna went in vain as Odisha Blue lost to East Coast Railway by three wickets.

A dashing 43-ball 67 by Soubhagya Rout notwithstanding, Sundargarh went down to Odisha Yellow by seven wickets. Odisha Pink suffered a 20-run defeat against Cuttack-A despite an unbeaten 54 by Subham Satrujit. A three-wicket haul by Prashant Thakkar helped Odisha Red get the better of Jharsuguda by 24 runs.

Match 43 (At Nimpur Cricket Ground, Cuttack): Odisha Blue 118/3 in 20 overs (Sandeep Pattnaik 68*, Sourav Gouda 20*; Lagnajit Samal 2/18) lost to East Coast Railway 119/7 in 19.3 overs (Sandeep Mulia 32*, Abhishek Yadav 21; KG Krishna 3/13, Nilu Pradhan 2/25) by 2 wickets. PoM: Sandeep Pattnaik.

Match 44 (At Ravenshaw University Ground-1, Cuttack): Sundargarh 116/8 in 20 overs (Soubhagya Rout 67; Soumendra Das 2/11, Manoj Barik 2/16, Sandeep Pattnaik 2/16, Abhijit Ghana 2/33) lost to Odisha Yellow 119/3 in 17.2 overs (Debashis Samantray 45, Rakesh Gochhayat 38) by 7 wickets. Match 45 (At Ravenshaw University Ground-2, Cuttack): Odisha Green 146/5 in 20 overs (Prayash Singh 46, Pratik Das 38, Prabin Luha 22; Mrutyunjay Mansingh 2/31) beat Khordha 99/10 in 18 overs (Aryashree D Bhatta 28, Rakesh Pattnaik 23, Jyoti Ranjan Behera 22; Rakesh Biswal 3/5, Debabrata Pradhan 2/11, Prayash Singh 2/13, Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo 2/24) by 47 runs.
