  Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship: Anupama wins silver medal

Odisha combat sports expert, Anupama Swain bagged silver medal in women 52kg category at the 5th Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship in Abu Dhabi yesterday. According to press release from Ju-Jitsu Association of Odisha, Anupama lost to a Thailand opponent despite leading by points in the final fight. Conceding penalty points cost her dear.

This was the third ju-jitsu international medal for Anupama, who is an employee of Odisha Police and trains at Utkal Karate School, Bhubaneswar. She had won two medals in the year 2019, including one gold at the Thailand Open World Ranking Ju-Jitsu Competition and one bronze at the World Martial Arts Mastership Ju-Jitsu Competition in Korea.

The Asian championship silver medal is expected to boost the confidence of Anupama for the 2022 Asian Games ju-jitsu event. She is likely to return to Bhubaneswar on September 18.
