  Kalahandi Cup Cricket: Kanojia stars in Boudh win

Impressive allround performance by Anurag Kanojia propelled Boudh to a 29-run win over Kendrapara in their preliminary league match of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men) at Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack today. Kanojita hit an unbeaten 87 and followed it with a haul of four wickets for 29 runs.

East Coast Railway rode on an unbeaten century by captain and wicketkeeper Sujit Lenka to thrash Angul by 86 runs in another match also at the Ravenshaw University Ground. This was the second century by Lenka in the ongoing tournament. Ganjam, Cuttack-B, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-A and Khordha posted wins in six other matches of the day.

 

Among other notable performers of the day, Mohammad Suleman, Sunil K Sahoo, Subrat Samal, Dinesh K Halba, Ankit Munda, Ashish Parija 53 and Narendra Dash hit a half-century each, while Mudidana Bhanu and Ansuman Mohanty captured four wickets apiece.

(At Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack): East Coast Railway 172/5 in 20 overs (Sujit K Lenka 101(70)*, Sameer R Mohanty 38; Milan Samal 2/42) beat Angul 86/10 in 18.1 overs (Rakesh Biswal 47); Sourav Sehgal 3/18, Lagnajit Samal 3/19, Jayanta K Behera 2/14) by 86 runs.

Match 20
(At Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack): Boudh 180/5 in 31 overs (Anurag Kanojia 87*, Prakash Jha 37; Biswabhusan Bihari 2/25) beat Kendrapara 151/10 in 30.2 overs (Satya R Samal 46, Aakash Chandra Nayak 36, Amit K Sahoo 20; Anurag Kanojia 4/29) by 29 runs.

(At Bidanasi Ground, Cuttack): Kalahandi 93/10 in 22.4 overs (Dinesh Kumar Majhi 27; Mudidana S Bhanu 4/12, Laxmi N Pal 3/22, Kalia Sahu 2/34) lost to Ganjam 94/3 in 17.4 overs (Somanath Pradhan 39, Om T Munde 31*) by 7 wickets.

(At Sunshine Ground, Cuttack): Dhenkanal 207/10 in 43.1 overs (Mohammad Suleman 81, Sunil K Sahoo 51; Dhiraj Kumar Singh 3/56, Digvijay Patra 2/14, Rakesh K Sahoo 2/38) lost to Cuttack-B 208/3 in 40.4 overs (Subrat Samal 59, Md Akram 49*, Abhinash Nayak 46, Sambit K Sahoo 28*) by 7 wickets.

(At SCB Medical College Ground, Cuttack): Malkangiri 168/6 in 46 overs (Dinesh K Halba 52, Achyut KPradhan 49; Amit K Das 2/36) lost to Sundargarh 171/3 in 39.3 overs (Ankit K Munda 66, Ashish Parija 53*) by 7 wickets.

Match 27 (At Nimpur Cricket Ground, Cuttack): Nayagarh 80/10 in 37.4 overs (Badal Bhol 22; Sumit Maharana 3/9, Sidhant K Jena 2/12, Aum A Narayan 2/29) lost to Khordha 83/3 in 13.4 overs (Sidhant K Jena 26, Jyoti R Behera 21*) by 7 wickets.
