  Kalahandi Cup Cricket: Jayanta bags 7 for 5

An incredible haul of seven wickets for five runs by left-arm spinner Jayanta Behera enabled East Coast Railway register an eight-wicket easy win against Kalahandi in their preliminary league match of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men) at Bidanasi Ground, Cuttack today.

Bhubaneswar-A, Cuttack-B, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Khordha, Angul and Boudh posted wins in eight other matches of the day. Among other notable performers of the day, Rakesh Gochhayat (Angul) and Krushna Barik (Nayagarh) scored century each, while, Dhiraj Kumar Singh (Cuttack-B) and Silan Nayak (Nayagarh) captured five wickets each.

Match 28
(At Bidanasi Ground, Cuttack): Kalahandi 33/10 in 12 overs (Jayanta K Behera 7/5, Sameer R Mohanty 3/5) lost to East Coast Railway 36/2 in 7.4 overs (Kameswar Barik 19*; Suraj Harpal 2/13) by 8 wickets.

Match 29 (At Sunshine Ground, Cuttack): Angul 251/5 in 38 overs (Rakesh Gochhayat 109(92), Nirnimesh Jena 63, Preeti S Sahu 35*; Manoj Kashyap 3/49) beat Kendrapara 142/9 in 32 overs (Aakash Chandra Nayak 50, Vimal Kumar 39*; Rakesh Biswal 3/16, Milan Samal 2/26, Dusmanta Naik 2/47-2) by 83 runs (Via DLS method, Match reduced to 32 overs, target 226 runs).

Match 30 (At SCB Medical College Ground, Cuttack): Boudh 180/8 in 38 overs (Tapas R Panda 42, Anurag Kanojia 40, Jyoti Ranjan Dalai 40) beat Ganjam 94/10 in 29.3 overs (Mudidana S Bhanu 24; Prempratik Mohapatra 3/17, Anurag Kanojia 3/12) by 86 runs.

(At KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar): Nabarangpur 67/10 in 20.5 overs (Dhiraj Kumar Singh 5/22, Sumit Sharma 3/13) lost to Cuttack-B 68/1 in 8.5 overs (Subrat Samal 32*; Sudip K Dhali 1/23) by 9 wickets.

(At Driems Cricket Stadium, Tangi, Cuttack): Dhenkanal 114/10 in 26.2 overs (Mustak Beg 32, Kunal Mallick 30, Sunil K Sahoo 27; Sanjay Das 3/14, Soubhagya Rout 3/22, Amit K Das 2/10) lost to Sundargarh 118/7 in 26 overs (Vicky Prasad 59; Soumendra Das 2/18-2, Mustak Beg 2/32-2) by 3 wickets.
