  U-16 Cricket: Subhrakanta haul destroys Bargarh

An incredible haul of six wickets for two runs by Subhrakanta Parida rocketed Bhubaneswar-B to a thumping 10-wicket win over Bargarh in their preliminary league match of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at Paramount Ground in Bhubaneswar today.

Bhubaneswar-A, Nayagarh, Deogarh, Balangir and Jharsuguda also registered wins in five other matches of the day. Besides Subhrakanta, three more bowlers bagged five wickets each. They were: Rajbeer Sahoo (Puri), Sachin Yadav (Jharsuguda) and Samarpet Patel (Balangir).
 

Samarpet Patel was also the top scorer of the day, hitting a 90-ball 78 against Sonepur. Among other successful batsmen, Karan Soni, Pratik K Ranjan, Abhisek Sahu (all Jharsuguda) and Shreetam Mishra (Balangir) scored a half-century each.

RESULTS (6 August, 2021):

Match 37 (At CV Raman Ground, Bhubaneswar): Khordha 30/10 in 29 overs (Pratik K Swain 4/5, Jagadish Mohapatra 1/7) lost to Bhubaneswar-A 33/0 in 13.4 overs (Sidhartha S Behera 16*, Saswat Rout 15*) by 10 wickets.

Match 38 (At Hi-Tech Ground, Bhubaneswar): Nayagarh 188/6 in 50 overs (Dibyajyoti D Pattanaik 42, Aurobin Rath 24*; Santosh Pradhan 3/46, Brain H Singh 2/32) beat Gajapati 86/10 in 34.1 overs (Kartik Sharma 39; Ayush K Chand 3/13, Biswajeet Pradhan 3/7, Saransh Rout 2/10) by 78 runs (DLS Method).

Match 39 (At Centurion Ground, Jatni): Nuapada 87/10 in 25.1 overs (Hritik Dehury 3/5, Subham K Sahu 2/17, Arric Yahan 2/7) lost to Deogarh 91/5 in 26.4 overs (Debendra Dehury 25*, Subham K Sahu 22*; Mohammed Rihan 2/29, Kanishk D Sharma 2/9) by 5 wickets.

Match 40 (At Paramount Ground, Bhubaneswar): Bargarh 40/10 in 26.4 overs (Subhrakanta Parida 6/2, Vishal Kumar 2/11) lost to Bhubaneswar-B 41/0 in 5.5 overs (Muddiya Kaushik 15*) by 10 wickets.

Match 41 (At Town Club Ground, Bhubaneswar): harsuguda 340/10 in 47.4 overs (Karan Soni 76, Pratik K Ranjan 55, Abhisek Sahu 52; Rajbeer Sahoo 5/53, Deba D Ranasingh 2/57, Priyaranjan Muduli 2/18) beat Puri 47/10 in 19.4 overs (Sachin K Yadav 5/7, Bishal Prasad 2/4) by 293 runs.

Match 42 (At Khordha Ground): Balangir 298/7 in 50 overs (Samarpet S Patel 78, Shreetam Mishra 58, Pratyush K Mahananda 34*; Rajesh N Singh 2/44, Sahil Bebarta 2/47) beat Sonepur 105/10 in 40.1 overs (Barun N Das 31, Fardin Khan 21; Samarpet S Patel 5/12) by 193 runs.
