  Kalahandi Cup: Jajpur beat Paradip by 70 runs

A half-century each by Md Sohail, Nisikanta Rout and notable allround performance by Lelin Kumar Bal helped Jajpur beat Paradip by 70 runs, via DLS Method, in their truncated preliminary league match of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men) at DRIEMS Ground, Tangi (Cuttack) today.

Originally scheduled to be played on Augustr 6, the match was abandoned mid-way that day due to heavy rain and wet outfield. Put into bat by Paradip captain Keshav Negi today, Jajpur made healthy total of 249 for 8 in 49 overs.

Among successful Jajpur batsman, Sohail top scored with 70, while Nisikanta remained unbeaten on 64. Ritik Chaudhary, Nitish Samantaray, Ansuman Sinha and Rohit Chauhan took two wickets each for Paradip.

Chasing 250 for victory, Paradip were 133 for seven in 37.4 overs when rain stopped play. However, Jajpur won the match via DLS Method with target revised to 204. Saurabh Biswal was the top scorer for Paradip with 37 runs. Mojakir Khan and Lalin Bal picked up two wickets each for Jajpur.
